The OnePlus One was originally released in 2014 as a “Flagship Killer” and quickly became one of the most popular Android smartphones in the 2014-15 era. A lot has changed since the handset’s release like a breakup with Cyanogen and letting the users choose between two ROMs (OxygenOS or CyanogenOS) like that. But the bad news is that the owners of OnePlus One still running on Android 5.1 Lollipop based Cyanogen OS or OxygenOS. It’s been a pretty long time that Google pushed Android Marshmallow to AOSP and jumped to Android N release. The wait is finally over since the Cyanogen Inc has issued Cyanogen OS 13 OTA update based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to the OnePlus One owners today.
The Cyanogen OS brings standard Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow goodies such as new permissions for better control over apps and privacy, battery saving Doze functionality alongside the Cyanogen features you’d typically expect. The Cyanogen OS 13 OTA update (ZNH0EAS26M) is gradually rolling out to the OnePlus One users, in case, you’ll not get an update notification or can’t wait to taste it, download the OTA Zip file from here and flash it manually (Recovery or Cyanogen Update Tracker).

Unfortunately, OxygenOS users might have to wait few more weeks for the update to arrive on OnePlus One, as the company already missed its Q1 2016 release time frame in case of OPO owners. But despite all of this, OnePlus made available the OxygenOS 3.0 ROM based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to the OnePlus 2 last week, so you can pretty much expect OxygenOS 3.0 very soon, at least the beta or community build.
Check the update in your device. Haven’t got it yet? Head over to download page if you can’t wait.
