Maxwest Astro X5 is a low-end smartphone with dual SIM capability. It allows you to use two different providers simultaneously. If you want a simple device which offers efficiency, it might be the one. The phone has a large 5.0″ TFT capacitive touchscreen that dominates the front panel. The screen has a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels (196 ppi pixel density) which is quite low for its size. The quality of the visuals is not impressive but you can still view contents clearly. The touchscreen supports multitouch and fairly responsive. It also includes Accelerometer and Proximity sensor.
Maxwest Astro X5 is installed with Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) operating system. For the performance, it relies on a dual-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A7 processor which works together with Mali-400 GPU and 512 MB of RAM. The phone is capable of doing simple stuff, but not for heavy duty. You may find it laggish when launching apps or switching menus. Multitasking would be hard to do although it’s not impossible. The phone has 4 GB of internal storage to accommodate your files. With such limited space there’s no other choice but expanding the storage capacity by adding external memory card (up to 32 GB). The phone has a variety of connectivity features including Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot; Bluetooth v4.0; and microUSB v2.0.
A modest 5 MP camera is embedded on the back of the phone. It features LED flash and video recording capability. It captures fairly good images and videos. You might lose some details and sharpness, but the quality of the results are still acceptable for social media purpose. The phone only has a VGA camera on the front panel. It’s definitely not a good camera for taking pictures or selfies. However, thus additional camera still can be useful for video calling. Other included features: GPS with A-GPS, Stereo FM radio, Email, Instant Messaging, HTML browser, MP3/AAC/WMA/WAV player, MP4/DivX/XviD/WMV/H.264 player, Photo editor and more.
