Maxwest Astro JR is a low-end smartphone with dual SIM capability. As a simple device, it offers basic communication functionality. It doesn’t have fancy features and incredible specs. It has ergonomic design and small size. On the front panel you can see a 3.5″ display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels (165 ppi pixel density). The quality of the visuals is acceptable. You can read text and view images clearly. The phone has curved corners that make it more comfortable to hold. It will also slip easily into your pocket due to the small size. The touchscreen is fairly responsive so you can navigate through menus easily. It already supports multitouch. Basic feature like Accelerometer is included.
Maxwest Astro JR is installed with Android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system. Under the hood, a dual-core 1.0 GHz Cortex-A7 processor works together with Mali-400 GPU and 512 MB of RAM. The phone has the capacity to do basic tasks, but it’s hard to expect more from its performance. Apps can be launched properly although it may feel a bit laggish. Switching menus won’t be as smooth as when we use higher-end smartphone. Multitasking is not an easy to do for this phone. To store your files, it has 256 MB of internal storage. You can add extra space by using external memory card up to 32 GB. Connectivity features are quite standard. It includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot; Bluetooth v4.0; and microUSB.
There is nothing special about the camera department. On the rear panel, it has 2 MP camera with video recording capability as its main camera. Of course you can’t expect much quality from such a basic camera. The phone also includes a front-facing camera for video calling. Other included features: GPS, FM radio, Email, Instant Messaging, HTML browser, MP4/H.264 player, MP3/WAV/WMA/AAC player, Photo editor, Video editor, Document viewer, Voice memo, Voice dial and more.
