Just as expected, after numerous leaks showcasing the smartphone’s specifications and design, the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus was officially launched at an event today as the company’s latest flagship smartphones in 2016. The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus boasts quite a few impressive specs sheet, so if you’re excited to learn more about what these devices to offer the end users then join us after the break.
The Huawei P9 is equipped with a 5.2-inch IPS display featuring a resolution of 1920 x 1080p with a pixel density of 423ppi. It is juiced up by a generous 3000mAh battery for the good screen on times. The Huawei P9 Plus, on the other hand, can be considered a phablet on account that it sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution, and thanks to a beefy 3400mAh battery, the device should be able to keep the lights on for more than one day on a single charge. According to Huawei’s claims, the P9 Plus’s 3400mAh battery offers dual-IC Rapid Charge, and you can apparently get a six hours worth of juice in just 10 minutes of charge.

Under the hood, the Huawei P9 and Plus are driven by HiSilicon Kirin 955 Octa-core SoC (16nm) featuring four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 2.5GHz, and the other four Cortex-A53 cores operating at 1.8GHz. There is Mali-T880 GPU to handle graphical intensive tasks. The Huawei P9 will be released in two different RAM and storage configurations. The 32GB variant will be equipped with 3GB of RAM, whereas the 64GB model will use 4GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the Huawei P9 Plus will be released in 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM configuration, however, users can be expanded the storage via microSD card (up to 128GB) in P9 and P9 Plus.
According to Huawei, the P9 & P9 Plus uses a ground-breaking Leica SUMMARIT dual-lens technology with a resolution of 12 megapixels, a f/2.2 aperture, Dual LED flash and a Hybrid autofocus. The Leica’s optical dual lenses (RGB and Monochrome) which should help in capturing color, and enable users to create images with Superior detail, depth, and color. Also, the dual camera design benefits in low-light conditions to grasp more light, and the detail can be captured flawlessly. Moreover, the monochrome mode on P9 and P9 Plus allows users to handle their devices as a true monochrome camera to capture perfect black and white images at exceptional quality. Plus, the Selfie lovers will rely on an 8MP front camera with 1080p video recording.
Another detail worth mentioning is the rear mounted fingerprint scanner with 3D fingerprint sensor technology that can be used for secure device unlocking and mobile payments. The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus boasts aerospace-class aluminum unibody, with diamond-cut edges rounded out by balanced curvatures. The P9 is wrapped in a package measuring 6.95mm thin, while the P9 Plus sizes at 6.99mm thick.
The P9 and P9 Plus connectivity features including a virtual-triple-antenna architecture, for seamless connectivity to cellular and Wi-Fi networks. In terms of technical, both the devices has Hybrid Dual SIM Slot (Nano + Nano/microSD), 4G LTE Cat. 6 with global roaming, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C. Last but certainly not least, the P9 and P9 Plus run on EMUI 4.1 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Pricing & Availability:
The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus European prices are like this, the standard P9 version with 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM is priced at €599, and also the high-end P9 and P9 Plus models with 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM has been priced at €649 and €749, respectively. The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will be available in Ceramic White, Mystic Silver, Titanium Grey, Haze Gold, Prestige Gold and Rose Gold color choices, while the P9 Plus comes in Ceramic White, Rose Gold, Haze Gold and Quartz Grey color options.
The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus will be available beginning April 16 in first wave launch markets include Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom.
