As teased earlier, Huawei has officially launched its flagships Huawei P9 and P9 Plus smartphones at an event held in London. Both the smartphones come with dual rear camera setup with Leica SUMMARIT lenses and 1.25-micron pixels for stunning images in any lighting conditions. Both the devices sport an all-metal body with similar design and are very slim measuring just 6.95 mm & 6.98 mm thickness respectively. The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus are the world’s first smartphones to feature the Leica lenses that are well-known as the professional camera lens maker. The devices come with almost similar specifications with the only significant difference being the screen size.
Regarding specifications, the Huawei P9 flaunts a 5.2-inch (1920×1080 pixels) full-HD AMOLED display with 2.5D arc glass and 424ppi as pixel density while the P9 Plus features a 5.5-inch (1080p) AMOLED 2.5D curved display with 401ppi as pixel density. The P9 Plus also comes with Press Touch display technology similar to the Apple’s iPhone 6s 3D Touch display. Under the hood, the smartphones come powered by 64-bit Kirin 955 octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz clubbed with Mali-T880 GPU. The devices come with hybrid sim slot that lets you use as a microSD card instead of the second sim.
The P9 comes with 3GB/4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of onboard storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion of memory. On the other hand, the P9 Plus has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of inbuilt storage with microSD card option for further expansion upto 128GB. On the photographic section, The smartphones come equipped with dual 12MP rear cameras with Leica SUMMARIT lenses, dual-tone LED flash, laser autofocus and f/2.2 aperture. For amazing photographic experience, the smartphones also have an independent depth measurement chip, hybrid focus technology, full manual control, and RAW support.
On the front, the smartphones feature an 8MP snapper with a f/2.4 aperture for video chats and perfect selfie images. The devices support dual sim dual standby and run latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1 overlaid. It includes standard connectivity options like 4G-LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS and USB Type-C port for faster transfers. Both the smartphones include a fingerprint sensor on the back with 3D fingerprint sensor technology for enhanced security and also has IR Blaster to control remotely home appliances.
The Huawei P9 comes powered by a 3000mAh battery while the P9 Plus packs a slightly larger 3400mAh battery and the smartphones also support Fast Charging technology. The Huawei P9 comes in Ceramic White, Mystic Silver, Titanium Grey, Haze Gold, Prestige Gold and Rose Gold color options and is priced starting from £449 (approx $630 / Rs. 42,140). The Huawei P9 Plus costs £549 (approx $770 / Rs. 51,570) and will be available in Ceramic White, Rose Gold, Haze Gold and Quartz Grey color variants. Both the smartphones will be available for sale starting April 16th.
