In the year 2015, various global smartphone makers made their debut in the Indian mobile market space. Most of these vendors initially focussed on offering mid-range offerings with budget price tags. In the competitive mid-range segment, the entry-level segment was left untouched. However, some of the manufacturers like the US-based InFocus and China-based Honor, which is a sub-brand of Huawei, anticipated the less competition in the entry-level market, and released a few devices in this segment. Honor launched the Honor Bee in the country in May last year, while InFocus launched the M260 in India in October to tackle the competition.
The Honor Bee and InFocus M260, both are decent entry-level devices, which impress the first time smartphone users. Talking about the design first, the InFocus M260 offers an attractive design that tips the scale at 155 grams and measures quite thicker at 10.4mm around the waist. The phone looks better on the design front thanks to a flashy design. The Honor Bee on the other hand is slightly slimmer than the M260 with a 10mm waistline, but slightly weighs higher at 170 grams. The Honor Bee on the other hand utilises a 1.2GHz quad-core Spreadtrum CPU, coupled with a Mali 400 MP2 GPU and 1GB of RAM. Overall, in terms of performance, they both offer similar experience on the paper. In terms of storage, they both offer 8GB of internal memory, which can be further increased up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.
The Honor Bee offers an 8-megapixel primary snapper with a dual-LED flash, and a 2MP secondary shooter. The InFocus M260 offers the same selfie snapper as the Honor Bee, but comes with a downgraded 5-megapixel primary camera and an LED flash. Overall, the camera specs of the Honor Bee are better than the InFocus M260.
Connectivity and battery
In terms of connectivity, the InFocus M260 and Honor Bee, both the smartphones offer 3G connectivity support, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Coming to the battery, the InFocus M260 gets a bigger 2,000mAh unit, while the Honor Bee is backed by a smaller 1,730mAh unit.
The InFocus M260 and Honor Bee, both offer attractive design for their price range. They offer compact displays, powerful processors for their price tag, decent internal memory and camera specs, and usual connectivity options. However, the InFocus M260 offers better performance and software features, and higher battery life than the Honor Bee. The Honor Bee on the other hand gets better camera specifications and a slimmer design. As for the pricing, the Honor Bee is available for Rs 3,999, while the InFocus M260 is being offered for around Rs 3,800 on the online stores.
