Meizu MX comes with fairly attractive design. It sports 4.0″ ASV capacitive touchscreen that dominates the front panel. The size is moderate so you can operate the phone easily with one hand. The slightly curved corners give more comfort when holding it. It will also fit perfectly in your pocket. The display has a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels (288 ppi pixel density) which is pretty high for its size. It means that you’ll be able to view good quality visuals. The touchscreen is responsive and already supports multitouch. It allows you to swipe through menus smoothly. There are other supporting features like Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Proximity sensor.
Meizu MX is installed with Android v2.3.5 (Gingerbread) but it can be upgraded to v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The phone has lower mid-range specifications. A dual-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 processor is planted inside and works together with Mali-400 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. It handles basic tasks pretty well. The processing speed is satisfactory. Simple multitasking is not a problem for this device. You may find it a bit laggish in certain occasions but that shouldn’t be too serious. To store your files, it provides 16 GB of internal storage. Unfortunately, that’s all you get. There is no memory card slot for storage expansion. Connectivity features are quite complete. It includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot; Bluetooth v2.1, A2DP, EDR; microUSB v2.0 (MHL TV-out); and USB Host.
The primary 8 MP camera is embedded on the back of the phone. It features autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, smile detection, WDR and video recording capability. It’s capable of taking high quality photos and videos. A secondary VGA camera can be found on the front panel. It’s not good for taking pictures but it can still be useful for video calling. Other included features: Loudspeaker with stereo speakers, GPS with A-GPS, Compass, Email, Push Mail, Instant Messaging, HTML browser, Adobe Flash, Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/FLAC player, MP4/H.264 player, Organizer, Document viewer, Photo viewer, Voice memo, Voice dial, Predictive text input and more.
