Samsung today announced the Gear Fit2 and Gear IconX, two new wearable devices that specially designed to fulfill the consumer fitness activities. It includes features such as fitness tracking, incoming call alert, texts, and there is also a standalone music player that allow users to actively workout with motivation without the need of a mobile device. Samsung Gear Fit2:

The Gear Fit2 is a successor to the original Gear Fit and is the most advanced wearable device in Gear lineup of smartwatches and smart bands. It seems that the new Gear Fit2 is more curved and ergonomic than the first Gear Fit. Now it’s got a 1.5″ 216 x 432p Curved Super AMOLED display, 1GHz Dual Core processor, 512 MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and 200mAh battery. It also has an IP68 certification to protect against Water & Dust, and the accessory runs on TIZEN OS.

What’s notable about Gear Fit2 is that it is embedded with GPS and HRM (Heart Rate Monitor) sensor for accurate data tracking while running, bike riding, and other activities. With Auto Activity Tracking feature, now users won’t have to activate the sports band explicitly, and it will be activated for you automatically.

The device syncs with your Android smartphone (Ver. KitKat 4.4/ RAM 1.5GB) over Bluetooth (V4.2) and allows easy data transfers between S Health and other favorite fitness apps. Alongside the routine tracking activities like the distance you’ve traveled, how many steps you’ve taken, calories that you’ve burned, the GearFit 2 also shows you 15 different fitness activities such as Exercise bike, Step Machine, Treadmill, Pilates, Yoga, Lunges, Crunches, and Squats, among others. Moreover, it provides Step Challenges for 1:1 competition with your friends.

The Gear IconX, on the other hand, is a pair of earbuds that can also be doubled as an In-Ear Fitness Tracker to monitor your fitness (or activity) data such as distance, speed, duration, heart rate and calories burned, plus it can easily sync with S Health application. Interestingly enough, the activity data on the Gear IconX provide through the Voice guide, even without a smartphone. What’s more, the Voice Guide is available in 15 languages in total.

To play or pause music, adjust volume or switch between tracks, all you have to do is simply place the Gear IconX in your ears. With a tap and hold on the touchpad, you can launch activity tracking and music player.
