How to Descale your Kettle

A descaling solution can be either DIY or readymade. Most major supermarkets have them. Everyone has a preference for how they descale kettles. If DIY is your preference, follow this step by step guide:

Step 1: You will first need a cloth.

Step 2 — Next, add one cup of vinegar to the kettle. Turn the kettle on to boil

The vinegar will heat and disintegrate the lime scale. The steam that is created from the boiling will help to clean up the kettle. To keep your kettle nice and clean, you should clean it every six months.

Step 3: Let the vinegar boil for about an hour, before straining it out and pouring it down into the sink.

A helpful tip for cleaning your sink at the exact same time is to add some soda to the sink before adding the vinegar.

Step 4: In the event that lime scale remains in the kettle’s bottom, you will need to dampen the cloth before you dip the cloth into the bicarbonate. You can use this cloth to clean any limescale left in the kettle.

Step 5: Rinse the kettle once or twice and boil it through again to remove lime scale.
